The mission of the traffic division is to enhance mobility throughout the city through continual evaluation and maintenance of the transportation infrastructure.
The division maintains and operates all signalized traffic equipment within the City of Deer Park, which includes 45 traffic signals. Their responsibilities include preventative maintenance on all signalized devices, as well as operations of all devices. They maintain and operate all traffic signals, and school flashers.
The Traffic Division also maintains numerous traffic control signs and street signs. They fabricate and install all needed traffic signs.
When properly located and operated, traffic signals are an invaluable tool for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians. They benefit the traveling public by providing orderly movement of vehicles, improved safety, reduced travel times and an increase in the amount of traffic that an intersection can handle.
