Outdoor Warning System
The City of Deer Park benefits from an Outdoor Warning System which would be utilized by local authorities. The alarms are activated in case of chemical emergencies, severe weather or other hazards.
According to the Local Emergency Planning Committee website, nine siren-type alarms are mounted on utility poles throughout the City of Deer Park, and another alarm is installed at Battleground State Park. The alarms can be sounded citywide or only in the geographic area affected by the emergency.
Important Emergency Siren Notice - 11/15/2024
The City of Deer Park is changing the sound of the emergency siren system. The new siren wail will be a steady tone, but may sound like it is changing slightly in pitch due to the siren speaker head spinning during activation. This change is being made to assist more citizens with hearing the sirens during emergencies.

Reminders about the siren system:
The sirens have a mounted red light on top to alert the Deaf community to an activation.
SIRENS ALWAYS MEAN SHELTER IN PLACE. They may be activated for a chemical release or for a tornado, but they are always activated to instruct the community to shelter in place.
THE SIRENS ONLY BROADCAST A SIREN WAIL. Recorded voice messages will not go out over the siren system. Do not exit structures to listen to the siren system, as this goes against the recommendation to shelter in place. We encourage everyone to sign up to receive the latest emergency information directly to your phone, email, or via text. You can sign up online by clicking the link (http://bit.ly/4gaxWpt) or by simply texting 77536 to 888777.
Please note: If you were previously registered with CodeRED, you do not need to re-register for Everbridge. We have transferred the contacts from our old system into the new system for your convenience.
As of April 2014, the system is tested weekly at noon every Saturday. This allows for more frequent testing of the system and enhances community and visitor awareness.
